Walking Through Ningyocho: A Nihonbashi Neighborhood

本日も ヒラヤマの周辺の街並みをご紹介します！
ヒラヤマのオフィスから5分ほど歩くと、人形町の甘酒横丁があります。
「甘酒横丁」という名前だけを聞くと、甘酒のお店がたくさん並んでいる通りなのかな？と思ってしまいますが、
実際には、
明治時代、この通りに甘酒屋があり、多くの人で賑わったことから「甘酒横丁」という名前がついたそうです。
甘酒屋さんがたくさんあるからではないんかい、と思わずツッコミたくなります。
実際に歩いてみると、老舗のお店や甘味処など、下町らしいお店が多く並んでいます。
一方で、モダンなカフェや新しいお店もちらほらとあり、新旧のお店がいい感じに共存している通りです。
今週末には、テレビ番組「出没！アド街ック天国」にて、日本橋人形町の甘酒横丁が取り上げられるそうです。
オフィスの近くの街がテレビで紹介されるのは、なんだか嬉しい気持ちになります！
まだまだ甘酒横丁や人形町には、紹介しきれていない魅力がたくさんあります。
ヒラヤマのオフィスの周辺にも、こうした面白い場所がたくさんあるので、これからも少しずつ紹介していけたらと思います。

If you walk about five minutes from the Hirayama office, you’ll find yourself at Amazake Yokocho（甘酒横丁） in Ningyocho（人形町）.
When you first hear the name “Amazake Yokocho” (Sweet Sake Alley), you might imagine a street lined with many amazake shops.
But actually, that’s not quite the story.
The name comes from a single amazake shop that stood here during the Meiji era and drew many visitors to the area.
So the street wasn’t named because there were many amazake shops — just one!
It’s interesting how a single amazake shop ended up giving the whole street its name.
When you walk down the street today, you’ll notice many long-established shops and traditional sweet stores that give the area its classic downtown atmosphere.
At the same time, you’ll also find modern cafés and newer shops here and there.
It’s this mix of old and new that makes Amazake Yokocho such a charming place.
This weekend, Amazake Yokocho in Ningyocho will be featured on the TV show Adomachi Tengoku.
It’s always nice to see a neighborhood close to our office appear on television.
There are still many things about Amazake Yokocho and Ningyocho that we haven’t had the chance to introduce yet.
The area around the Hirayama office is full of interesting places like this, so we hope to share more little discoveries with you in future posts!
